Welcome to the website of St. James’ Church, Hemingford Grey.   Peter is the Vicar of St. James’ and married to Rosie.  Thank you for looking at our website especially if you’re coming on holiday or even thinking about moving to our area and looking for a church that might become ‘home’.

Here in Hemingford Grey the Parish Church provides much more than our Sunday worship together;  we also run Hemingford Garden Room, a contemporary coffee shop, in the Parish Centre – where you can enjoy good coffee, home-baked cakes and light lunches.

Even if you never come ‘to church’ you’ll find the church involved in many areas of life in this community.  The old saying is that “the church is not the building, but the people.”  Nevertheless the building is an important Grade 1 listed building which has been restored over the last 10 years. You’ll find access easy for those who need wheels to get in! Come during the week and find the quiet space for prayer or join in our Sunday worship at 9 and 11am every Sunday.

On this website you will find information about St James’ Parish Centre, a typical weekly pattern of activities and more detailed information about the youth and children’s activities. Do sign up for our weekly email and you’ll get the latest news.

The village is a ribbon development along the southern edge of the Great Ouse River with many living at  the eastern end of the village not knowing that although their postcode is PE27 and address ‘St Ives’ they live in the local authority parish of Hemingford Grey which coincides with the ecclesial parish and St James’ is their Parish Church.  Those living on the eastern side of the London Road, although in Fenstanton Parish, will find a warm welcome awaits everyone.

If you find anything out of date or inaccessible on this site, please do drop us an email and we’ll put that right as soon as we can.  We hope to meet you.
