We begin in our Sunday service at 11am – children and young people attend their own groups which start at 11am at the Parish centre for children (3-11) and youth is at 6 Church lane. The children and youth are brought back towards the end of the morning service to join the rest of their family for refreshments in church. Breakfast church is on the third Sunday of the month from 8.30 am and formally concluding at 10 am. The other Sundays at 11am we’ll be worshipping and learning together. There will be an all-age communion service on the fifth Sunday of a month – three times a year.
Families with young children
Families with young children are welcome at St James’ Church. Baby changing facilities are provided in the base of the tower. Please park your buggy inside church.
First Steps meets on a Tuesday and Tots Praise on a Thursday (follow the link above for more details).
Children’s Groups
Kings Kids (5-7 yrs) after school club will meet on a Monday in Hemingford School.
Blaze (7-11 yrs) meets on a Thursday, 6-7:30pm at the parish centre.
Youth Groups and activities
Youth, 11-14 yrs, meet on a Sunday morning at 11 am at 6 Church Lane. Older youth (15+) remain with the adults for the whole of the service.
Monday Night Youth 15 – 18 yrs meets every Monday Night. Social activities are arranged from time to time. Please see the youth page for more details.
Men’s Group
Meets on a Thursday evening at the home of Mark Latimer. Dad’s (with Children) Breakfast meets on the 3rd Saturday each month in the Parish Centre. Other activities including curry nights, hill walking and water-borne are arranged from time to time.
Prayer Groups
There are daily meetings for Morning Prayer at 8am in St James’ Church on Monday and Wednesday, and St Margaret’s on Tuesday and Thursday for 30 mins. There is an informal meeting for prayer on Friday evening at 7pm for an hour in St James’ Church.
Bible Study Groups
Small groups meet for Bible study and discipleship at different times during the week in the homes of members of the church family and in the Parish Centre during the daytime and the evening. Please email Rosie if you would like to join one.
Events for our senior citizens, including lunches
Songs of Praise is held in church once a quarter at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and is followed by a cream tea.
Parish Lunches for our senior citizens are held in the Parish Centre on a monthly basis. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like and invitation to the next lunch or speak with Joanne at the Parish Centre reception (Wed-Fri).
Home visits and Home Communion
If you know someone who is unwell or would appreciate a home visit by a member of the ministry team
If you or some one you know is unable to attend church for communion and would like it taken to them please email Revd Judith Bolton and either the vicar or a lay minister will contact you to make an arrangement.
