The Daily Office
During the week anyone is welcome to come to say the Daily Office. This 30 minute service consists of lectionary readings from both the Old and New Testaments and the book of Psalms. There is some time for informal prayer.
The service is at 8am in St James’ every Monday and Wednesday (except when there is a service of communion at 10.30) and in St Margaret’s on Tuesday and Thursday.
This service is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month in St James’ at 10.30am. It is a said service from Common Worship of about 40 minutes and follows the lectionary. There are a variety of preachers from our ministry team as well as some other members of the church. Coffee is served after the service. The congregation ranges from 12 to 30+ during Lent when the service is held every week; everyone is welcome.
During the Church’s Year various special services are held, usually in the evenings, of different types and styles to celebrate the seasons: Advent, Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and Trinity. These will include quiet meditative services in Celtic style, with and without music of different genres. Having no pews, the space in the nave is reconfigured to facilitate these different services.
